Milan Gallery - History
Opened in 1993
Milan Gallery began in 1979 as Henrietta Milan’s home studio and gallery. In her early years, Henrietta would pack up her artwork and travel to starving artist shows in local Fort Worth locations including Seminary South Mall and the cattle barns at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Eventually she began showing in local retail art galleries and having clients visit her home studio to purchase paintings. It was not long after that, she gained representation in galleries throughout the country.
In the 1993, while in downtown Fort Worth, Henrietta’s son, Tal chanced upon a vacant retail space in the heart of Sundance Square. With some quick planning and a lot of hard work, the first retail Milan Gallery opened in June of that year. Artwork from Henrietta Milan, Rome Milan, and a few other select artists were represented.
Over the next 25 years, Milan Gallery, occupied four Sundance Square locations, twice having two locations at one time. During those years they hosted countless exhibitions for national and international artists, as well as numerous national art roadshows.
In May 2018, the Milan family decided that they would close the retail location in downtown Fort Worth and dedicate their time to promoting Henrietta and Rome’s artwork directly through their home studio and through other exclusive galleries throughout the country. They also continue to represent several other artists including Cynthia Bryant, Gabe Leonard, Thomas Arvid, Carol Acedo and Thomas Stotts.
Milan Gallery is currently in 2 locations: Forestwood Antique Mall in Dallas, Texas and Cottonwood Market in Richardson, Texas.
