Impressionist artist Rome Milan has drawn inspiration from international travels that have taken him from the Dalmation coast of Yugoslavia to the Rivieras of France and Spain and across to the Aegean Islands of Greece. He draws the viewer into his canvases through his richly-textured, palette knife application of paint and his dramatic perspective, unusual cropping and shallow depth; which lend immediacy to scenes of beaches and architecture.
A background in silk-screening helped Rome develop a sense of hues and shades. He has also spent many years developing his skills in contour drawing with pen and ink. His more recent attraction to oils and pastels were influenced by his mother, internationally respected impressionist Henrietta Milan.
American Heart Association's 2004 Gala "Art For The Heart" chooses Rome Milan as Celebrity Artist.
Rome's interest in coaching and judging of gymnastics informs his work with disciplined and precise execution of strokes, which contrast with the relaxed atmosphere of his scenes.
