Jerry Dane Sanders
Jerry Sanders became interested in art early during his grade school years and it carried through his high school and college education. He graduated from Indiana University in 1973 with a B.S. degree in Art Education. His interests include drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, with an emphasis in sculpture. Sanders works in clay, wood, stone, resin and steel, however he works primarily with stainless steel, his favorite.

Only a few months out of college he started his first major steel sculpture for his masters degree. The sculpture "Question of Balance" was the first major contemporary sculpture installed in the city of Indianapolis. Shortly after, he was recruited by the Indiana Arts Commission to serve a term as an artist in residence.

In 1978, Sanders moved to Fort Worth, Texas and started working full time as a sculptor. He works with developers, architects, galleries, agents and art consultants. His work is collected by some of the most prominent corporate collectors in the country as well as individuals. Corporate collectors include Trammel Crow, Frito-Lay, PepsiCo, Shell Oil and Hunt Properties.

In 1980-81 Sanders set up his second major sculpture project which benefited Cooks Children's Hospital and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A 30-foot sculpture titled "Motion II" was constructed with in kind services and materials. The piece toured five cities including Fort Worth, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans and Chicago. The sculpture was sold to Hunt Properties along with two other pieces with the profits going to the hospital and the MDA.

In 1985 Sanders was elected by the Texas Sculpture Association to serve as a board member for a 3 year term.

Cognizant of the need to expand to other markets, Sanders was instrumental in the formation of Sculpture Resources Inc. which was established to represent Dallas and Fort Worth sculptors internationally.
